Letter from Larissa Ortiz to OMCAR members

Dear OMCAR members,
I am so incredibly honored to be the first OMCAR president in a new century for our
association! That’s right … this is the start of OMCAR’s 101st year – it’s a brand-new century for
us! As your 101st president, I pledge to put in the effort necessary to fulfill our mission of
advancing the local real estate industry by shaping public policy, adhering to our REALTOR®
Code of Ethics, meeting our mandated Core Standards, and providing the information and tools
our members need to succeed. As we embark on this new era, I encourage all of you to get
involved and put your fingerprint on YOUR association in any way you can to help us continue
to deliver a platform of professionalism to all our members.
I’m committed to ensuring the continued success of our association by doing exactly what I do
in my own real estate business: advocating for property rights, for homeownership at local,
state and national levels, and for a safe industry. To that end, I will put my leadership skills to
work creating an intentional process for inspiring and maintaining change.
To all our OMCAR strategic partners … get ready! I’ll be calling you to set a Cafecito date (my
treat!), so I can make sure you’re taking the best advantage of all your membership benefits.
We’re your business partner and we’re here to help you make an impact in our market.
I’m excited to spend my year working with our officers, board of directors and committee chairs
to develop a clear vision that creates a pathway to take our association down a road of dynamic
growth, engagement and prosperity made possible through effective leadership.
For nearly two decades, I have belonged to this association, sharing your dreams and struggles
as we worked together with joy and dedication to enhance the professionalization and
unification of all our members. I love my job, my colleagues, and this association so very much. I
have been so happy participating in committee and board of directors meetings, and I feel very
confident and grateful for your trust. I am excited be part of the joint effort we have made for
the growth of OMCAR and am excited for this next opportunity.
And on a very personal note, I want to share how very proud I am to be the first Latina/Hispanic
president of the Ocala/Marion County Association of REALTORS®. I’ve imagined this moment
many times and the reality of this honor is overwhelming.
As I begin my term, I encourage you to show your commitment to your industry and your
community by finding ways to get more involved in our association through one of our many
volunteer positions. Your leadership skills and industry insights are needed now more than ever
in our ever-changing profession.
As an essential part of our volunteer team, you will represent the association as a progressive
voice for the real estate industry and in our local communities. Members who are actively
engaged in the association gain success through participation and involvement, and volunteer
positions are a great way to immerse yourself in our culture and connect in like-minded peers.
Can I count on you to step up?
Let’s continue being North Central Florida’s Trusted Voice of Real Estate. One voice for one
association. LET’S GET LOUD!
